“I have always been a supporter, promoter and advocate for women: I believe in mentoring and helping to connect women to jobs they can love.”
Geraldine Laybourne, Co-Founder and Board Chair of DAY ONE, is best known as one of the most influential voices in children’s media, building Nickelodeon into a network where children felt seen, understood, and valued, and yes, she’s even been slimed. She co-founded Oxygen Media, a network for young women, with Oprah Winfrey and Carsey Werner. She has advocated for children and women on a national stage, and spent a career proving that when you invest in kids and empower women, everything changes. A longtime Dutchess County resident, she brings both vision and conviction to her work every day.
When I was a kid
My family got our first TV. My mother turned it on and said: “Well hello TV.” As if it was answering her it said “Hello out there in TV land!” I begged her to spin me around and hurl me to TV land. After that, I always dressed up to watch TV, especially Hopalong Cassidy.
